Quarter Final of the League Cup.
A brilliant advert for Ladies Football. Two teams determined to get into the Semi-Finals of the cup. Both teams had their chances, but Woodlands defence has been brilliant in the last few weeks with only 4 goals conceded in the last 6 games.
Woodlands were unlucky early on when Shannon's shot was superbly held by the Clowne keeper, Clowne went close when the forward chipped the ball over the advancing Sophie in goal, Katie managed to get back and clear off the line, but the ball fell to an advancing forward and her shot was brilliantly cleared out for a corner again by Katie.
Jess fired a long shot just over the bar and Betty had a header from a corner just clear the bar, when it looked destined for the back of the net.
Sophie had to be off her line quickly to smother a throughball, taking a bang to the head for her troubles.
The game was played in fantastic spirit, with both teams playing hard but fair on a sticky surface.
It lloked like extra time was beckoning with only 8 minutes to go, when Amy's beautiful 30 yard crossfield ball was swept home on the volley by a delighted Shannon.
Hollie playing a half on each wing was outstanding for Woodlands & the defence again deserve a mention for their endeavour.
