Mansfield brought a very strong squad down to Long Eaton for this league fixture & for long periods of the game there was very little to choose between the teams.
Nicci was denied by an excellent save early on when running onto a Betty through ball. But after 25 minutes Claire fed Nicci down the right, she cut in and saw her shot rebound off the near post, Amy making a good run into the box was rewarded as the ball fell at her feet to sweep the ball home.
Woodlands really struggled to get their passing game going, but the defence was again outstanding. Both Katie & Betty sitting in front with Chloe P cleaning up behind. When Mansfield did break through Sophie in goal was always very smart off her line.
In a desperate game Woodlands scored a 2nd goal after 79 minutes Nicci feeding Claire who's finish was sublime. Both Claire & Hollie went close again before Mansfield's keeper produced an outstanding save to deny Nicci.
In the closing stages Mansfield struck the bar after a flowing move and scored the consolation goal that their hard work deserved in the final minute.
