Woodlands run of 4 straight  victories came to an end, as Radcliffe Olympic stole the points after being under pressure for much of the game.

Woodlands started brightly and Nicci Stevenson struck a beautiful volley inside the first 6 minutes that the Radcliffe keeper managed to palm to safety. Next it was Shannon Ryan's turn to test the keeper, her shot coming out off the near post. A good cross from Hayley Merritt was somehow put wide by Claire Waring from 3 yards out and Nici Stevenson ran on to a Antonia Lagou throughball to fire an unstoppable shot against the post.

Just as it seemed that Radcliffe would weather the storm Amy Gabbitas found Claire Waring down the left and Shannon Ryan was on hand  to half volley Warings cross into the net.

Radcliffe always looked dangerous on the counter attack and Sophie Dyson made a smart save, pushing the ball around her near post from a neat shot from a Radcliffe attacker.  In the first half Woodlands defence looked compact and solid.

However in 5 second half minutes all of Woodlands hard work and endeavour was undone, as first Laura Jennings was on hand to chip Sophie Dyson after a poor clearance and then Jennings again was on hand to finish from close in after a strong run from the Radcliffe left winger.

This seemed to knock Woodlands out of their stride for a short period and Sophie Dyson had to be quick off her line to reach a throughball from the back.

Woodlands were to be denied by the Woodwork for a third time as they looked for an equaliser, this time Claire Warings lovely shot coming back off the cross bar.

Woodlands poured forward at the end, but Radcliffe held firm to claim the points.

Player of the match: Frankie Watson, didn't miss a thing at the back.
