Firstly I cannot tell you how proud I am of you all. What a fantastic game to be involved in, you were all superb and a credit to Woodlands FC.
The game started badly for us conceding an early goal when we failed to clear a long ball through, and a good shot looped over Annie in goal to see us 1-0 down. Undeterred by this the girls pressed forward and gained a corner after some good pressure. From the corner which was flicked on at the near post Saff found the ball at her feet, looked up and curled her effort into the top corner to equalise.
Woodlands then pressed forward believing they could score again and when Emily was played through on goal she coolly passed he ball into the bottom corner to put them 2-1 up.
Having played Linby so many times we knew they weren’t going to roll over and we rode our luck on several occasions, but from a long punt upfront the Linby centre half raised her hands to the ball to give away a penalty. Unfortunately the keeper made a save to keep Linby’s hopes alive. More good play on the break saw Lucy W chase down a lost cause and put the Linby defence under pressure which paid off when one Linby defenders played it against another, which saw the ball roll into the net for 3-1.
The second half was always going to be tough and so it proved, one thing we know about Linby regardless of the scoreline they never ease off. Three well taken second half goals saw Linby nick the game from under our noses for the second time this season. One thing they cannot take away from us though is that both times we have given them one hell of a game and both teams knew they had been in a great game.
We just have to learn to close games out and that will come with experience which Linby have, but if we are this close now things are looking good for us as a team.

Could not be prouder of you, frustrated obviously but you all worked so hard, Rich and I cannot ask for anymore than that.
