With yet another two week lay off from the league we were hoping the girls appetite for football would have returned after back to back defeats. Unfortunately this was not the case against a well organized Nottingham Utd side.
Having made several changes to the line up after a disappointing display against Pegasus, the girls started the game brightly enough and were equal to Nottingham for the first period of the game. The games first turning point though was the neck injury to Charlotte, this disrupted the backline and Nottingham exploited the change to open the scoring. Disappointed to go a goal down the confidence that was there at the beginning soon disappeared and the girls quickly found themselves two down. With very few chances in the first half, the girls who are clearly lacking in confidence at the moment went further behind before the break leaving themselves a mountain to climb.
Having made some changes at halftime, Woodlands went with a more attacking line up for the second half which finally saw us create a few chances. As per the last few games though non of these were taken and we always ran the risk of conceding again which we did near the end of the game. Strangely though that seemed breath some life into the girls we arguably played some of best football of the game when it was nearing the end.
As always the management team have shouldered some of the blame again as we search for the correct positions for the girls to play in, but while we are doing this it is clearly unsettling the side. I am convinced that we haven't become a bad side over night and must work very hard in training to get back to the way we as coaches know you can all play football.
